March was another exciting month for our studio family, and we’re so excited for the rest of our spring season!
In March:
· Junior Neha Nair was named Distinguished Young Woman of Middletown 2023! Neha will now compete at the state level!
· McKenna Dunn, Maddie Weir, Kate Hartinger and Hannah Middlekauff all completed their formal Acrobatic Arts Assistant certification in March of 2023. All four teachers have been working through all of the student and pre-professional grades of the Acrobatic Arts exams and have now completed an extensive demonstrative and online study guide and evaluation process in order to earn the certification.
· Our Dee Buchanan Competition Team enjoyed a successful Performing Arts Competition event with Mid-Atlantic Dance Masters! Our dancers performed beautifully throughout the two-day event, earning a variety of recognitions from the judges. And the seniors' parents were all dressed for the occasion, showing their pride in their DBCT senior!
· Our 3-10-year-olds had a great time at our Spring Fling mini-camp on March 25th! Looking forward to our next mini-camp, "A Surprise for Mom" in May.
· Ten of our dancers enjoyed a weekend of classes at NYCDA Atlantic City in March, 2023. Congratulations to Amber DeVriendt, Grace Elwood, Madelyn Kiska, Emma Kufta, Charlotte Linehan, Brynn Munger, Caroline Smithhisler, Jordan Wanuck, and Maddie Weir on their hard work throughout the event. Additional congratulations to Sophie McKenzie & Maddie Weir, Outstanding Dance Finalists, Charlotte Linehan, Outstanding Dancer Runner-up, and Jordan Wanuck, Outstanding Dancer Runner-up and Tap Scholarship Winner!
This winter, nine of our dancers participated regularly in MHS Basketball halftimes as members of the MHS Dance Team. And now a group of our high school dancers are in the midst of their show weekend in MHS Drama’s production of “Catch Me If You Can”. Our dancers pursue a variety of interests, and we love watching them thrive in their chosen activities. And we’re also so grateful for their support of one another in these activities! Next up, our dancers in the Marching Knights Dance Line will perform at the Jazz Band’s 2023 evening of Jazz in May, and we’ll begin the audition process for next season’s line!
What’s next for our dancers?
· Our Spring Mini Session is now open for enrollment! Classes include Rhythm Works, two age groups of Tumble Team, a Primary Try-It class, and a Tiny Dancer Try-It class.
· 8 of our Comp Team dancers will be performing at Daybreak Adult Center in early April.
· Our recital photos are scheduled for mid-April!
· Our Dee Buchanan Competition Team will attend their final regional event this April in Lancaster, PA.
· Several of our dancers will be performing in the Middletown Middle School production of “Matilda, Jr”
· Our Dee Buchanan Competition Team will be performing at Baker Park Children’s Festival at the end of April.
We are also busily preparing our 23-24 class schedule and can’t wait to share it with our dance families. Looking forward to a terrific month together!
